Compound 1: CAS 14096-51-6, Dichloro(ethylenediamine)platinum(II), commercially available

Proposed synthesis method:

Step 1:

  1. Suspend ~ 1 g of Compound 1 in 22 mL of triply distilled water.
  2. Add an amount of 11 mL of 30% H2O2 to the mixture.
  3. Stir the mixture for 3 hours at 30 °C (in the dark).
  4. Reduce the volume of the clear yellow solution obtained on a rotavapor and cool in the fridge.
  5. Precipitate the mixture with a sufficient amount of cold acetone. Finalize the precipitation with the help of ultrasonic waves.
  6. Filter the final product.
  7. Wash the mixture with acetone and dry in vacuo.
  8. Use column chromatography purification to obtain Compound 2 and dry the product in vacuo.

Step 2:

  1. Suspend succinic anhydride and Compound 2 in dry DMF (molar ratio: ~ 5:1).
  2. Stir the reaction mixture at 60 °C for 8 hours.
  3. Remove DMF under reduced pressure.
  4. Suspend the residue in acetone with the help of ultrasonic waves.
  5. Filter the reaction mixture.
  6. Wash the mixture with acetone and dry in vacuo.
  7. Use column chromatography purification to obtain Compound 3 and dry the product in vacuo.
